Road Events

Welcome to the ultimate Gran Fondo adventure at 7000+ ft. The Tour de Big Bear offers over four road events, all starting and finishing at Bear Mountain Resort. Whether you’re chasing a personal best on the 25-mile ride or pushing limits on the epic 100-mile Century Ride, we have a distance for every rider.

We offer 4 main road cycling events:

  • 25 mile: 1,331 ft elevation gain | Perfect for beginners, short-distance sprinters, or those looking for a fun, social ride.
  • 50 mile: 2,938 ft elevation gain | Ideal for cyclists seeking an intense challenge. Enjoy panoramic views of the entire Big Bear Valley from the east side.
  • 70 mile: 4,755 ft elevation gain | Perfect for those ready to take on a big challenge but not the whole enchilada. Tackle the renowned Onyx Summit climb and compete for KOM/QOM Challenges.
  • 100 mile: 8,585 ft elevation gain | The ultimate challenge for seasoned cyclists, this is the whole enchilada. Incredible alpine views, exclusive KOM/QOM Challenges, and a milestone riding experience.

All races and events start on Saturday, August 1, at Bear Mountain Resort.

Fully supported with legendary aid stations (food, hydration, DJs, even BBQ ribs on some), on-course mechanics, SAG vehicles, and law enforcement. Courses close at 5:00 pm.

No—rides are on open roads. Ride safely, obey traffic laws, and stay in control.

Yes—timing chips are used. KOM/QOM challenges on Onyx Summit for 100- and 70-mile riders (fastest male/female awards).

Paved mountain roads with scenic alpine views, pine forests, and lake vistas at 7,000+ ft elevation. Significant climbing on longer routes.

Yes, only in the road events. E-bikes are prohibited in gravel and mountain bike events due to U.S. Forest Service restrictions on motorized vehicles on singletrack and trails. E-bike riders assume all risk for maintenance/breakdowns and are ineligible for awards or Strava segment wins.

PERFECT. Early August averages highs around 80°F (27°C) and lows around 49°F (9°C). Hydrate heavily, use sunscreen, and bring layers.
