We’re excited to announce the addition of a 50k mountain bike race to the Tour de Big Bear and continue the rich history of mountain bike racing in Big Bear!

Held the same day as the Tour de Big Bear, this fresh and exciting Cross Country MTB race is set to be unique, taking you through stunning mountain landscapes on a challenging yet enjoyable course with flowy single and double track trails.

Starting at Bear Mountain resort and finishing at the top of Van Dusen Canyon Road on the north shore, this inaugural event is destined to become a beloved annual favorite.

Course Finish Note: 

Originally we were planning to end the race at the bottom of Van Dusen Canyon Road.  Due to the closures on the south side of the lake, there is increased traffic on the north side (ie Van Dusen Canyon Road). In the interest of rider safety we decided to end the race at the top of Van Dusen Canyon Road.

You will use Van Dusen Canyon Road to return to lake level and follow the route arrows for the four mile ride back to Bear Mountain.  Alternatively you can have someone pick you up from the bottom of Van Dusen Canyon Road.  Van Dusen Canyon Road is a busy route during the summer months so please use caution when descending.

  • Historic Roots: Honor tradition by visiting Wilbur’s Grave. Pay homage to our original settler and seek fortune for your race. Some say placing a pine cone on his grave guarantees good luck!

No E-Bikes in the Mountain Bike Event

E-bikes are allowed in the Tour de Big Bear road events only.  E-bikes will not be allowed in the Dirty Burro Mountain Bike event due to Forest Service restrictions on use of e-bikes on single track trails.
