AWARDS

We’ve got awards for timed climbs for the 100 and 70 mile road routes and the Dirty Bear 50 gravel route.  We also award the youngest finishing rider, the best hand from the Poker Ride, the Glow Ride winner and the largest club.  Details below.

Timed Climbs (KOM/QOM)

All 100 and 70 mile road riders are automatically entered into the 7.5 mile, 1570’ climb up Onyx Summit to win cash and prizes.  We will be crowning fastest male and female, but the course is OPEN to traffic so please be careful.

New in 2024 was a timed Gravel section. If you are participating in the Dirty Bear (Gravel 50) you will be automatically entered into the 6 mile, 1200’ climb on the gravel climb in Holcomb Valley to win cash and prizes. We will crown the fastest male and female gravel riders.

To receive a time for the Onyx Assault and Dirty Bear Challenge KOM/QOM, you must pass the respective KOM/QOM start line by 12:00. E-bikes are not eligible for KOM/QOM prizes.

2024 Timed Climb Routes

Onyx Assault KOM/QOM (Road)

  • First, Second and Third place podium Men and Women (Under 50 and 50+)
  • Cash prizes:  $200, $150, $100 (Men and Women)
  • Champion Jersey (Men and Women)
  • First, Second and Third place receive a free entry to the following year’s Tour de Big Bear (any route)
  • Plaque on the Onyx Assault Perpetual Trophy

Dirty Bear Challenge (Gravel))

  • First, Second and Third place podium Men and Women (All ages)
  • Cash prizes:  $200, $150, $100 (Men and Women)
  • Champion Jersey (Men and Women)
  • First, Second and Third place receive a free entry to the following year’s Tour de Big Bear (any route)
  • Plaque on the Dirty Bear Challenge Perpetual Trophy

Other Awards

Youngest Rider

  • Youngest aged finishing rider in each road category (25, 50, 70 and 100)
  • Youngest aged finishing rider in each gravel category (Dirty Bear 50 and Dirty Cub 25)

Glow Ride – Best Bike

  • First place – $500 gift certificate to Get Boards
  • Second place – $300 gift certificate to Get Boards
  • Third place – $200 gift certificate to Get Boards

Poker Ride – Best Three Hands

  • First place – an event jersey and free entry to 2025 Tour de Big Bear

Craig’s Crown – Largest club signed up on Active

  • Plaque on Perpetual Trophy
  • Crown for each member of the club
